THE BEGINNING
In 1955 a biological experiment took place
namely, the crossing of a German
Shepherd Dog with a Carpathian Wolf.
The experiment established that
the progeny of the mating between a male
dog to a female wolf and that of a male
wolf to female dog, could be raised to live
a long healthy life.
In 1965, a program for the breeding of
this new breed was set In motion.
This was to combine the usable qualities of
the wolf with the favourable qualities of
the dog.
In the year 1982, the Czechoslovakian
Wolfdog became recognized as a
national breed.
TEMPERAMENT
The Czechoslovakian Wolfdog Is very
playful and temperamental. It learns easily
with time. However, you should not expect
to train spontaneously.
It Is necessary to find motivation
for training. Failure Is usually the fact
the dog Is tired or bored with long
repetitions of the same exercise,
keep training exciting,
this way motivation won't be lost.
Czechoslovakian Wolfdog's have a
much wider range of expressing
themselves.
Barking Is an unnatural behaviour for
them, they will try to communicate with
their owners In other ways.
To teach Czechoslovakian Wolfdog can
takes a bit more time than a traditional
breeds. Czechoslovakian Wolfdog's
develop a very strong social relationship
not only with their owner but with
the whole family.
Czechoslovakian Wolfdog's will allow
children & puppies to do things they would
never except from an adult or
another dog. Puppies should never
be isolated In a kennel.
It must get used to different
surroundings, E.G. travelling, meeting
people, differing noises, prams,
umbrellas. If you are to have a well
balanced dog...
Male dogs often go through a stormy
patch, In other words being a teenager..
